  • Take care of your budget.

    You choose the cold cycle on your washing machine, exercise outdoors rather than in a gym, cook at home instead of going out every night. It’s not that suddenly we’ve become cheap. It’s the present time that made us to act like that. Everything was going so well for most of us: great jobs, big houses, luxury cars… It all went away in a blink of an eye. We had to “grow up”, become stricter and wiser with the way we use our finances.

    SLAVSKY insurance offers you a few more tips on saving oh so needed money today. You can tighten up your budget in different spheres of your life.
    * Car insurance:

  • cancel unnecessary coverage, like collision and comprehensive, if a car is old and does not worth much. And how many times have you used towing services?
  • when buying a new car, remember that model, make and year of the vehicle effects your rate.
    * Life insurance:
  • do you need it if there are no dependents?
  • find cheaper coverage with higher deductibles ( the same goes for auto and homeowners insurance);
  • review your policy every 2-3 years.
    * Your auto:
  • save on fuel by downsizing a car and by emptying the trunk from heavy objects;
  • try driving your car less, instead use public transportation, bike or walk (also a great way to get your cardio done);
  • wash your vehicle, change oil and filters yourself;
  • when buying a car, consider one with a higher residual value, so it will not depreciate as much.
    * Taxes:
  • use your dental and other medical costs for expense deduction;
  • donate clothes and shoes you haven’t worn in years, toys and other things that collect dust around your house;
  • pay January’s mortgage early and deduct the interest this year;
  • get a child credit;
  • have a mileage deduction, if you use your car for business.
    * Other ways:
  • go for an off-season vacation and spend less for hotels, flights, etc;
  • pay bills online - no more late fees, no more stamps, no more licking those stamps;
  • park in a shade to prevent evaporation of your gas in the heat.
  • There are so many more things we can do to help our bank accounts to grow. Check out our other articles on saving money. And remember: a little bit goes a long way.
