  • Bike to live.

    Living in San Francisco has made me a better person. And it’s impossible not to change with all helpful, caring and friendly people (no offence LA, but fake friendly does not count). This beautiful, cozy city is also known for it’s friendship with nature. Only here I have really got into a healthy lifestyle, learned how to save water and energy. I’ve started to recycle, recycle and even precycle.

    Probably, like New Yorkers we use our public transportation, because it’s almost impossible to find available parking, but I prefer to think it’s for an eco friendly reason - we are saving our planet Earth!

    Besides historical trolleys, cable cars, BART and MUNI a lot of people of all ages, I might add, are riding bicycles. How great is that! Not only we take care of our Mother Nature, but keeping our bodies strong and healthy is a great side effect. In San Francisco we even have an official “bike to work” day, so join us then. Or start riding on your own and save money on gas and parking meters.

    Before you begin, remember few things to keep yourself safe:

  • Wear a helmet ALWAYS! Do not think it will look goofy, think about it saving your head from hitting the pavement;
  • Do not hesitate. Make a move and go with it, so others will have time to react;
  • Eyes up. Look inside parked cars and taxis for people about to get out. You do not want to be “doored”;
  • Fall safe. Let your body roll with it;
  • Ride with traffic - not against it. If a car is coming in the opposite direction at a high speed, there’s far less response time if the bike weaves into the lane of traffic than there would be if both were traveling in the same direction.

    There is another thing: insurance. Great news is that you can be covered by your auto or homeowners insurance.
