Did you know that one of the main causes of bankruptcy is health care? It is a very big problem for people with and without health insurance. Hospital stay, prescriptions and other medical bills can leave you in debt, if you are not covered, as well as bring a financial hardship to someone with serious illness with insurance plan. And it’s not our fault – it’s extremely expensive.
Over the years there have been made a lot of changes to improve our health care and make it more affordable. Still, we have a long way to go to have a perfect solution. Or not.
Our new president, Mr. Obama, said he is open to a new proposal, which requires every American have health insurance and employers would share in the costs. ”If we are going to make people responsible for owning health insurance, we must make health care affordable,” Mr. Obama wrote. “If we do end up with a system where people are responsible for their own insurance, we need to provide a hardship waiver to exempt Americans who cannot afford it.”
He also said that small businesses will be having a lot of difficulties in affording health benefits, so they should be exempted. Mr. Obama has called a Congress to get $200-300 billion from Medicare and Medicaid over the next 10 years to cover uninsured people.
It’s pretty much impossible to keep everybody happy. There is a possibility of hurting private insurers and health care providers. But Mr. Obama seams very determined to legalize this government-run health plan, which will bring raise of taxes and ration care.
We all have our hopes for a better future. So, we’ll wait and see. We’ll never know it if we won’t try it.
